| | July 24, 2008 Uranium North Starts Drilling at South Baker, New Uranium Mineralized Zones Intersected in First Drill Hole
|
| | Vancouver, July 24, 2008 --Uranium North Resources Corp. (UNR -- TSX-V) announces that the 2008 exploration drilling program on the Company's 100% owned South Baker property in Nunavut is underway. The first drill hole on the KAM South uranium prospect intersected basement rocks with zones of anomalous radioactivity associated with extensive alteration.
The zones with elevated radioactivity occur intermittently between 149 to 180 metres down hole. The uranium mineralization is contained within an extensive hematite -- quartz -- carbonate altered zone that is brecciated locally. True widths are not yet known. Assay results are pending. Drill hole KAM-1 was drilled to the northwest dipping at -45o and was terminated at 202 meters.
The exploration target at KAM is an interpreted 2 kilometre long structure coincident with radioactive boulders assaying between <0.1 to 3.5% U3O8. The first hole was drilled into the eastern margin of the structure. Initially four drill holes were planned for KAM, however, due to this early success, more drill holes are being planned. Three additional holes are planned to test the eastern side of the structure and two holes are planned to test the western side.
W.E. Brereton, P Eng, of MPH Consulting Limited is Uranium North's qualified person with respect to this project and has reviewed and approved the technical information in this release.
